Overview:

Best known for the Kentucky Derby, the fastest two minutes in sports, with the TriAmerica Triathlon Series Louisville introduced a new breed to the city - triathletes. With the bike and run courses taking athletes to Southern Indiana, here is your chance to compete in not only one, but two states in one race. Louisville's dramatic skyline serves as backdrop with the race anchored at Waterfront Park in the heart of downtown Louisville.

Airport

The Louisville International Airport is located just minutes from downtown.

Race Venue

The Great Lawn at Louisville Waterfront Park, Downtown Louisville. Registration and the Tri-America Festival of Sports and Fitness will take place in a large tent on the Great Lawn. The Tri-America Kids Triathlon Venue and registration location will also be at the Great Lawn.

Directions to the Great Lawn

From Indianapolis via I-65
Cross the Ohio River
Take the first downtown exit off I-65 (Jefferson Street).
Turn right on Brook Street.
Brook Street dead ends at Witherspoon and the Park.


From Nashville via I-65
Take the Brook Street exit.
Brook Street dead ends at Witherspoon and the Park.


From Cincinnati via I-71
Take 64 West (St. Louis) into downtown Louisville.
Take the Third Street exit, stay in the left lane.
Turn left on River Road at foot of ramp, go two blocks.
Waterfront Park is on the left.

From St. Louis via I-64
Ninth Street exit.
Two blocks then left on Liberty Street.
Nine blocks then left on Brook Street.
Brook Street dead ends at Witherspoon and the Park.

From Lexington via I-64
Take the Third Street exit, stay in the left lane.
Turn left on River Road at foot of ramp, go two blocks.
Waterfront Park is on the left.

Course Information

(all courses subject to change)

Swim - The swim is in the Ohio River. The course features an in-water start and is one loop. Projected water temperature is expected to be in the upper 70's to low 80's, Wetsuit use is in accordance with USAT rules. Although historically the River is calm in July, should the current be greater than one knot, the swim course will be switched to a point-to-point format with swimmers swimming with the current

Bike - The bike course starts out Downtown then crosses over the Ohio River into Indiana. While crossing the bridge you'll enjoy a panoramic view of the Louisville Skyline and of the Tri-America Venue spread out across the Great Lawn. The course then travels up River Road, makes a loop along a scenic rolling course. Cyclists then return to River Road and follow-it back to the race site. Sprint course athletes follow the same course at the begining, then turnaround of River Road to return to the race site.

Run - The run course is a very scenic course that showcases Historic Downtown Louisville before crossing over to Indiana . The run then follows the river to the Falls, then returns back to the Great Lawn to finish. Sprint course athletes turnaround on the bridge.

Registration:

For the Sprint triathlon, registration is open to individuals ages 9 and above. For the International distance triathlon, registration is open to individuals aged 15 and older, and two or three person relay teams. Click here to view our registration policies.
