Course:

Swim - The swim takes place in the Chesapeake Bay. The course will be a rectangular course. The projected water temperature will be in the mid to upper 70's. Wetsuit use is in accordance with USAT rules. MAP

Note that Jellyfish are present in the Chesapeake Bay during the warm summer months. Although Jellyfish are more prevalent in the inner bay, they may also be present at Buckroe Beach at the mouth of the bay. NOAA has identified ways to prevent and treat Jellyfish stings. Lightweight protective clothing, like a lycra "swim skin" or panty hose, or a layer of petroleum jelly spread on unprotected skin, will protect a swimmers against stings. If you are stung by a jellyfish, liberally sprinkling a meat tenderizer or baking soda (or vinegar for PhYsalia) on the sting may reduce the irritation. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) are uncommon to jellyfish in U.S. waters, but emergency treatment is essential in such cases.

Bike - The bike course is a 20.5K loop course. Sprint athletes will race one lap of the course, and international distance athletes will race two laps. Course Map

Run - The run course is a flat and fast out and back course with a loop out to Fort Monroe for the 10K runners. Course Map

TriAmerica Points Series

When you compete in a TriAmerica Event you earn points based on your finish time. All individual finishers will then be ranked in the 2006 TriAmerica Point Standings. The maximum number of points you can earn at any event will vary with the distance of the event. National Series Tour events will also award bonus points. You must finish a minimum of four events in order to be eligible for Series Awards. All finishers wll appear in the rankings regardless how many events they finish. The more you race, the more points you can earn.

The TriKidz triathlons will be ranked separately and will not appear in the overall TriAmerica Point Standings.

The TriAmerica Point Standings Awards Ceremony will take place right after the Great Floridian Awards Ceremony on October 22. Additional information on the TriAmerica Points Standings can be found here.
