TriAmerica - America's Favorite Triathlons

What are the distances?

Each TriAmerica stop features four races. The first race of the weekend is always the TriAmerica Super Sprint Triathlon followed by the the TriAmerica TriKidz Triathlon for youths ages 6-15. Both these events are held on Saturday morning. The marquee event is the new TriAmerica Distance Triathlon on Sunday morning. Also run on Sunday morning is a Short Course Triathlon at approximately half the distance of our new TriAmerica Distance Triathlon.

New TriAmerica Distance

The featured event at each Tri-America stop is the new TriAmerica distance triathlon. The distances are 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) for the swim, 60 kilometers (37.3 miles) for the bike and 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) for the run. These distances fall between the standard International distance and the half-iron distance.

Although considerably shorter than the well-known and grueling Iron-distance races -- which are 2.4 miles (3.8 kilometers) for swim, a 112 miles (179 kilometers) for bike and a 26-mile (41.6-kilometer) marathon run -- our new TriAmerica distance triathlons are challengeing, yet not so tough that they wear you down.

In the event that a swim cannot take place a 3.1 mile (5K) run will take the place of the swim.

Short Course Distance

At each of the TriAmerica stops a Sprint distance triathlon is run in conjunction with the TriAmerica distance race. In most venues the distance will be 1/2 of the TriAmerica Distance, equating to a 1 kilometer swim (.62 miles), 30 kilomerter bike (18.6 miles), and a 7.5 kilometer run (4.7 mile run). The exact distances could vary depending on the venue. Please check each venue's information page for the exact distances.

In the event that a swim cannot take place a 2K - 3K run (distance depends on venue/course layout) will take the place of the swim.

Super Sprint

Saturday morning's Super Sprint Triathlons are designed to be short and fun, perfect for first timer and family participation. While the exact distances may vary at each venue, our prefered standard Super Sprint distance will be a 200 yard swim - 6 mile bike - and a 2 mile run.

TriAmerica TriKidz

Each TriAmerica stop features a special TriKidz Triathlon for youths ages 6-14. Juniors ages 6-10 will swim 100 yards, bike 3 miles and run 1/2 mile. Seniors ages 10-15 will swim 200 yards, bike 6 miles, and run 1 mile. The distances may vary slightly at each venue in order to create a safe course.
